How to keep phone battery healthy.
Increase lifespan of phone battery
Smartphones are the greatest boon to this world. Initially phones were only made mainly for making calls, sending SMS. They were operated with keypads and had 1-2 small games like snake game. Slowly evolution started taking place and smartphones were invented which didn't have any keypads and are operated by touch. They are box containing entertainment, gaming, music, calling, messaging etc. Nowadays smartphones have become so important that even spending a day without it cannot be imagined. Battery health of smartphones are also very important as smartphones.
What damages a battery ?
Smartphones consist of lithium ion battery and they have lifespan of 300-500 cycles. So according to this smartphones have lifespan of 2.5 - 3 yrs. After that backup of battery will get reduced by about 20 Percent. Batteries are vulnerable to heat. When heavy applications and games like PUBG are played for long hours, phone gets heated up and thus, will the battery due to which battery gets drained more fast. Earlier smartphones had removable batteries which hadless lifespan and had memory due to which they had to be fully charged to 100 Percent to maintain normal lifespan. But recent smartphones comes with non removable lithium batteries. These batteries don't have any memory due to which they don't need to be charged to full, everytime they are plugged in. Leaving the phone for charging even after full charge will cause damage to battery. Overcharging frequently will lead to swelling of battery. Environmental conditions may also affect the health of battery. If phone is kept at high temperature then battery will drain fast and in some cases may also lead to lethal explosion. Using other adaptor other than original may also damage the battery as these adaptor may supply over current to device and thus may damage the battery or may even lead to explosion of the device.
Tips to increase battery lifespan :-
- Never leave phone for charging overnight as it will overcharge the device and may lead to swelling of battery.
- Avoid charging phone to 100 percent everytime. Disconnect the charger after 80-85 percent of charge. This will increase the cycle.
- Charge phone from 0 - 100 percent once in a month to calibrate the capacity of battery.
- Avoid leaving the phone in direct sunlight for lond time as it will cause vigorous heating in the device.
- If your device get heated up while playing games or using any apps then place the phone aside for cooling and don't use it until its completely cooled.
- Avoid using fast chargers instead of original one. Fast charging will cause more current to pass through battery thus will cause heating and will damage the battery in long run.
- Some smartphones like samsung provides option for switching between fast charging and normal charging. Try using normal charging for most of the time unless its emergency.
- Always go for mobiles having large mAh batteries to avoid frequent charging.
- Avoid charging when battery is above 40 percent as it may decrease the cycle.
Increase battery by system modifications :-
- Check whether location and sync are switched off as they consume battery overtime.
- Adjust brightness to optimum level and try reducing screen timeout or sleep time which will reduce the battery consumption.
- Try using different battery saving apps available in playstore which will close the background apps which is not in use.
- Avoid filling the storage of phone to full as it may decrease the ram and increase battery consumption
- while travelling, 4G network consumes more battery as it connects with different towers across the travel routes, so try to switch the network mode to 2G as it consumes very little battery.
- Try to disable the notifications from the apps which are not important.
- Disable the google voice search option as it keeps the mic on for the google to recognise any sound.
- Turn off double tap wake up, as it keeps the touch sensors on and thus consumes battery.
- Turn off screen rotation as it uses gyroscope.
- Try turning on power saving mode in settings which will close the background apps and effectively save the battery to an extent.
