Power Bank Not Charging
Power bank not working ?
Power bank is a device used to charge mobiles, ipads, bt headset etc. There are many problems that may lead to improper working of a power bank.
1. Power bank charging phone slowly.
This is a usual problem that most of the people may experience. This can be due to many reasons.
- If your pb is new then there are chances of charging phone slow. This is because pb after manufacturing, are kept idle for months or even years. So this can cause temporary memory loss in batteries inside. This will be solved after a full charge of pb.
- using phone while charging can also result in slow charging. This is because most of ph have intelligent protection system which will decrease the charging volt if device heats up too much and using device while charging will definitely heat up the device.
- Another reason can be due to usb cable used to charge the device. If you are not using a usb cable capable of delivering 2A 5V current then your device will charge slowly. You can also try changing usb cable and see if there is any improvement in charging.
- Environmental factors will also affect the pb charging. If pb is kept at high surrounding temperature like in direct sunlight, then it will cause the pb to heat up and will decrease its charging speed. It may also damage the pb and in some cases even the phone also.
- If you pb is not a company product then also it can affect the charging. There are many local companies which manufacture pb. Pb from these local companies will not have written specs and may also not provide good battery capacity.
2. Power bank not working
If your pb is not at all charging the phone then it can be due to pb or usb cable. Try changing usb cable with another and look if it works. If not then it is due to pb. Check whether led lights are blinking. If they are then their is a problem to pb and should take it to a repair shop or should be replaced if it is under warranty. If the pb is new then you should first read the instructions manual provided with pb. Some of the pb must be charged full before using and this will be mentioned in its working manual.
3. Power bank charging slowly
This is the most common problem that most people addresses. Charging time depends on capacity of your pb. If your pb is of 10000mAh capacity then it would take around 4-5 hrs. to fully charge. If your pb is of 20000 mAh then it would take around 8-9 hrs. to fully charge. If it is taking more time to charge than mentioned above then it can be due to usb cable or charging adaptor. First you should check whether the adaptor used for charging is of 5V 2A. Most of the pb have input of 10w. If you are using adaptor of 1A 5V or lower then it would definitely take more time to get charged. If you are using right adaptor then it try changing usb cable used for charging. Then also not working then this may be due to change in voltage or due to frequent electricity interruption. As most of pb have this over-voltage and under-voltage protection system which will ensure that your pb will not get damaged by over charging or over current flow. Try changing socket or changing place and chech whether problem persists. If yes then, contact the customer care of the respective company. This can be due to defect in pb.
Steps to be taken for long lifespan of Power Bank.
- If pb is new then read the instructions manual carefully. Some of the the pb must be charged to full charged before first use.
- Never keep pb in direct sunlight or in hight temperature conditions.
- Try not to leave pb for charging even after fully charged. Although most of pb have inbuilt overcharge protection but this will decrease lifespan of pb in long run.
- Avoid using pb till it is discharged to 0% as it will affect capacity of pb.
- Never keep pb and phone in a closed bag or in high temperature conditions while charging.
- Avoid using pb which are not certified for safety or from local companies as they may not have any safety features like overcharge and overdischarge protection, short circuit protection, over-voltage protection etc. This can lead to short lifespan of pb or in some cases may lead to lethal explosion.
- If pb should not be left with no charge. If you are not using pb for long time then keep pb fully charged and should be charged after 2-3 months.
