Having Difficulty To Fall Asleep At Night ?

Sleep

Many people suffer with difficulty of falling asleep at night. Either this be at adult age or old age, both of them may suffer sleeplessness at night due to various mental or physical health problems. Most of the people keep thinking about their life problems and ways to keep their livelihood going without any issueas. Due to these thoughts in mind, your mind doesn't relax and you are not able to get sleep. Other reasons for sleeplessness can be due to consumption of any medicament which has anti sedative effect along with its main therapeutic effect. Some people may not get sleep due to pain caused by any injury inside or outside the body. INSOMNIA is the disorder in which a person is not able to fall asleep or wake up early and cannot go back to sleep. As the title of this article says, one can fall asleep in only 10 seconds and its not fake. This type of sleep is practiced in army where soldiers are trained to get sleep in less than 60 seconds. One cannot attain sleep in 10 seconds in their first attempts. One has to train themselves to attain sleep in 60 seconds first and must maintain a fixed schedule for sleeping and waking up.

Method To Get Sleep In 10 Seconds

First lay down your body on a bed having surface of equal height. Place your body on bed in such a way that your face, chest, stomach  faces upside. This position is called sheersasanam in sanskrit. After that keep your body still and remove all other thoughts from your mind which includes your life problems, thoughts about future, and even thought that you are trying to sleep. Never try to think that you are you are going to sleep or anything related to sleep. Just imagine a blue sky or blue vast ocean and you are moving in the sky or in the ocean. Before imagining, lay down your shoulders, arms, and be relaxed. If you are hearing voices or sound disturbances, try to ignore it and concentrate in travelling in the blue sky. If you are experiencing any air waves on your body due to rotation of the fan, then imagine it as a fresh air waves you are experiencing while moving through sky. For first time this may tale some time to work. After 3 to 4 times you will start seeing improvement and you may start getting sleep in just 60 seconds. After many times the time will start to fall asleep decreases to much an extent that you may fall asleep in just 10 seconds. Some people may experience difficulty in this position also, so they can try lying down on bed in such a way that their face, chest and stomach faces downwards, and relaxing the mucsles, shoulder, arms in same way as above and imaginigining the same blue sky or blue ocean. After becoming expert in this type of sleeping technique, you may also be able to sleep in sitting or any other position ising the same technique but may take some time. Soldiers are trained to sleep on this technique as this helps them to take quick naps during their duty and helps to stay alert.

Causes Of Sleeplessness

There are many reasons which causes sleeplessness at night. They can be direct or indirect causes and most of them are treatable. Melanin hormone is the pigment which enables the sleep process in our body. Imbalance in melanin secretion may cause sleeplessness. Some causes can be :
  1. Consumption of medicaments can also cause sleeplessness as some of these medicines may have anti-sedative activity as its side effect. This effect will be temporary and will cure as soon as medicine period for consumption is over.
  2. Stress is one of the most influenced factors in sleeplessness. Adults usually have stress because of heavy work load in job and maintaining their livelihood with family. Old people often take stress thinking about their children and grand children. This stress cannot be cured by any medicine or ayurveda. This can be only cured by thinking positive by the person and practicing meditation which will relax both mind and soul.
  3. Having bad daily routine may also lead to sleeplessness. Sleeping lately at night may lead to disruption of body clock which will affect the sleep at night.
  4. Using and looking at phone and laptop screens for too many hours continuously not only affects the eyes but also affect the sleep and may lead to sleeplessness.
  5. Sleeplessness can also occur due to some physical strain or pain caused by any injury present inside or outside the body. This can be avoided by ising painkillers during sleep. But having painkillers always is not advisable and must consult any physician before taking painkillers.
  6. Having emotions and mental instability can also lead to sleeplessness. This can be cured by consulting a doctor and taking sleeping pills. Meditating can also help to relax mind.
  7. Sleeplessness can also occur due to some diseases which affects the brain for e.g. parkinson and alzheimers patients may have very less sleeping hours than a normal person and may need to consult a doctor.
  8. Consumtion of  unhygienic food may cause stomach problems such as stomach ache and other gas problems which may lead to sleeplessness.

Conclusion

Sleeplessness is not an uncurable disease and one may not need to consult a doctor except on case of medication or mental problems. One can do yoga and meditation at home to relax mind and avoid negative thoughts which may lead to sleeplessness. Sleeplessness at old age is normal as at old age, digestion and other processes of the body become weak due which they suffer from gas problems in the stomach and it may lead to reduced sleep. They will also have body pain at muscles, legs, shoulder etc. which may lead to sleeplessness and may have to take sleep pills to get sleep. Sleeplessness may also be an indication of any diseases related to brain and if a person is not able to attain sleep for 3 to 4 days at all then he/she should immediately consult a doctor. Try to maintain a healthy lifestyl by eating heathy food and don't eat too much at night before sleep as it may cause indigestion and other gas pronlems. Reduce phone and laptop usage at night as they emits blue light which affects the melanin secreted in our body and leads to sleeplessness.
