How gpu can help in better performance of cpu
Can GPUs Improve the Performance Of System
GPUs or Graphics Processing Unit are components of a systems which enables the device to run all graphics related contents such as videos, games, youtube, etc. They are also called graphics card. Without graphics card, it will be very difficult to run a system. Even if it did, you will not be able to play games or any videos on it. No doubt that GPUs really boosts up the performance of the device whether its a laptop, pc, or even smartphones. Every devices or machines have a GPU installed in it. Even automatic electric cars have GPU like Nvidia Driver PG in it which assist the car AI to mind its surrounding obstacles and run without any driver in it. Even oldest box type compurer had 56mb of integrated GPU in it which ran small games of that time like prince of persia 2d, dave, mario etc. Nowadays PC and Laptops comes with minimum of 1 or 2 Gb vram of GPUs which enables the user to perform all heavy tasks such as programming, photoshop, web surfing , gaming, etc. In case of gaming, light games like fifa12, gta san andreas, can be played easily on integrated gpus of 1 or 2 gh vram. In case of heavy graphics games such as gta 5 and batman arkham knight requires high end dedicated graphics card to run smoothly.
There are mainly two types of GPUs i.e. integrated and dedicated. Integrated GPUs are the one which is present inside chipset of the processor such as intel HD Graphics and AMD ryzen vega 8. Integrated GPUs are always provided in such a way that it will enable the device to perform every programs smoothly and even play low to medium end games without any lag. But in case of hardcore gaming, integrated GPUs will not be sufficient and dedicated one excels in it. Dedicated GPUs are the one which enables is to play high end games without any lag. You will also need high end GPUs if you are graphics engineer. Programs like video coding, editing, photoshoping etc require good graphics card to process and run faster. In case of laptop, mostly integrated GPUs are offered but gaming laptops provide dedicated one also along with integrated one. Don't mistake here. You nay think that both integrated and dedicated will work together to give combined performance but unfortunately its not like that. Only either of them work at a time. You can easily switch between integrated and dedicated ones from control panel. Usually dedicated one is selected as default as it has more clock speed and give better performance in gaming compared to integrated ones. But in case of power saving, integrared ones are better becausr they consume less power as they depend on system ram and fan for cooling but in case of dedicated, more power is required to run cooling fans of the dedicated GPU. In case of PC, there is no option available to switch between integrated and dedicated ones as they have unlimited supply of power. You have to install drivers for graphic card seperately in pc. If you have removed the dedicated one from cpu then you will have to install integrated GPU driver then only integrated gpu works. For e.g. if you have intel processor then you have to install inter hd graphics driver to run intel integrated GPU. For dedicated one, driver CD will be already provided with the Graphics card. If not then you can download its driver from the web.
Dedicated GPUs are always vetter than Integrated ones as they have higher clockspeed and have seperate cooling fans and vram to run smoothly. But in case of power usage, integrated ones exceed from dedicated ones and saves more battery in case of laptops. There are many laptops which comes with powerful integrated GPUs which provides almost similar performance as that of dedicated one and may run high end games at low settings. They are the ideal one which will give optimum performance as well as provides more battery backup.
